Ep. 1 - Rediscovering backpacking w/ Jeremy Jones

Updated: May 23, 2019

6,000 feet elevation gain in 9 miles as a reintroduction to backpacking? It was a great idea.

I talk with my friend, Jeremy Jones, on his reentry into backpacking as an adult of two sons and business owner. Topics include what it takes to get into physical and mental backpacking shape as well as advice on how to introduce backpacking to your kids. Our new segment "Trails and Ales" features Kiitos Brewing, which makes me want to fly back to SLC to try them out.

Featured Trails: Copper Creek Canyon (Kings Canyon NP, CA)

- Trailhead: Copper Creek Canyon, Roads End Ranger Station

-Mileage: Varies, ~9 miles to The Lip. You can explore from there

- Notes: Severe elevation gain (6,000 ft) in first 9 miles; beautiful alpine lakes after reaching The Lip. Spend at least 2 nights, preferably 3 nights there.

Also Featured in Podcast: Reflection Canyon (Glen Canyon NRA, UT)

Feature Brewery: Kiitos Brewing - Beer: Blonde Ale

International Bitterness Units: 10

Alcohol by Volume: 4.0%
